Family-Friendly Restaurant Recommendations in Cornwall

One of the questions we get asked a lot by families staying at Glynn Barton is: “Where should we eat while we’re in Cornwall?”

Cornwall is packed with brilliant places to eat, from relaxed beachside cafés to special-occasion restaurants. A recent guest asked for some fresh recommendations, so we put together a list of some new local food spots that families have enjoyed when staying with us.

While we haven’t personally eaten at all of them recently, they’re all well-reviewed and perfect to build into a family day out.

Here are a few great options to consider during your stay:

Fern Nanstallon, Nr Bodmin, PL31 2QX

Fern is all about seasonal, local food and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s ideal if you’re looking for somewhere relaxed but still a bit special. Pair it with an exploration of Bodmin earlier in the day, and it becomes a lovely treat for the grown-ups while still being welcoming for families.

The Rocket Store Boscastle Harbour, PL35 0HD

This one’s a big hit with families. Set right by the harbour in Boscastle, The Rocket Store is casual, friendly, and perfect after a day rock-pooling or exploring the village. Kids love being near the water, and parents love the quality food and laid-back vibe. No fuss, just good food in a brilliant location.

The Ugly Butterfly  Fistral Beach, Newquay, TR7 1EW

If you’re celebrating something special while on holiday, The Ugly Butterfly offers stunning sea views over the famous Fistral Beach and is a truly memorable dining experience. It’s slightly more “treat meal” than everyday dinner, but it’s still welcoming and works well if you plan it around a beach day or coastal walk so the kids have already burned off some of that never-ending holiday energy!

Tallo Newquay, TR7 3LX

Tallo is a great shout for families – relaxed, modern, and very child-friendly. It’s the kind of place where kids are genuinely welcome, not just tolerated. Perfect for an easy-going lunch or early dinner after surfing lessons or a beach day in Newquay.

The Duchy Larder Wadebridge, PL27 7DA

This is a brilliant daytime stop, especially with younger children. The Duchy Larder is ideal for breakfast, lunch, or a relaxed coffee break, with plenty of space and a welcoming feel. It’s easy to combine with a countryside walk or a visit to nearby attractions.

Staying at Glynn Barton means you can mix peaceful countryside days with fun family adventures along the Cornish coast – and great food is always part of the fun. If you’re ever unsure where to head, we’re always happy to point you in the right direction or suggest something that suits your family – just ask!

Happy exploring (and eating)!
