Discovering Bodmin Moor: A Family Friendly Adventure

The dramatic views and vast landscapes of Bodmin Moor have been a favourite of ours since we landed in Cornwall.  Just a stone’s throw from Glynn Barton, there’s so much outdoor fun to be found on the moor. Here’s how we’d while away our holiday days on Bodmin:

  1. Discover a little Cornish History
Visit Jamaica Inn, famous for its smuggler tales, or explore ancient sites like the Hurlers Stone Circles and Rough Tor, one of Cornwall’s highest points.
  2. Hike the Trails
From easy strolls to challenging hikes, there’s a path for every family member. Try the walk up to Brown Willy, Cornwall’s highest hill, for incredible views.
  3. Wildlife Spotting
Look out for wild ponies, buzzards, and other wildlife as you wander through the moor’s rugged landscape.
  4. Picnic with a View
Pack a lunch and enjoy breathtaking views from one of the many scenic spots, such as Colliford Lake or Dozmary Pool, steeped in Arthurian legend.
  5. Stargazing
With minimal light pollution, Bodmin Moor is perfect for an evening of stargazing. It’s a designated Dark Sky Landscape, so bring a blanket and some hot chocolate and watch the stars fill the night sky.

Discover the magic of Bodmin Moor and make it a highlight of your holiday, we’ll see you up there!
