Meet the Locals – Fowey Valley Cider

It’s no secret that we really love our little corner of the world – there’s really nowhere better than Cornwall!  And there are some incredible Cornish businesses working and living here right alongside us.  We wanted to introduce you to a few of them over the next few weeks, starting with Fowey Valley Cider.

Now, we’ve tried a cider or two in our time and these guys make some of the most delicious we’ve enjoyed! Using the tastiest westcountry apples and making everything from their Cidery at Lostwithiel, we’d absolutely recommend grabbing a tipple from our little shop and sitting in the sunshine to enjoy!

1. Name?

Sarah Ward

2. What do you do?

Business Manager at Fowey Valley Cidery & Distillery.

3. What’s your hero product? The thing we HAVE to try!

Our award-winning Sparkling Vintage Cider, hand crafted at our cidery in Lostwithiel, an idyllic and historic Cornish town in Cornwall. We only use fresh apples from our own orchard and others close by, and absolutely nothing else. Made in the “methode traditionelle” and this gives it a crisp & clean taste. Absolutely gorgeous if I do say so myself!

4. If you were marooned on St Michaels Mount what would you take with you?

Gary Barlow and a pasty 😊

5. Best kept Cornish secret….. that you’re willing to share!

The small Cornish towns with their own pubs, away from the busy areas – there are so many beautiful places to explore off the beaten track.

6. What’s your top tip for holidaying in Cornwall with kids?

Bring a bucket & spade and a crabbing net, also remember swim wear and wet weather gear!

7. Favourite thing about living and working in Cornwall?

The Cornish hedgerows in the spring, and of course the cider!

8. Best Cornish beach?

Being bought up on the south coast of Cornwall, Polkerris is my favourite beach, it brings back wonderful childhood memories.

9. Whats your favourite ice cream flavour?

Salted caramel.

10. If you could be a farm animal what would you be and why?

I’d be a horse, they don’t have to work on the farm anymore, just eat a lot and go for the occasional jolly out on the lanes (well mine does anyway!)
