Most of us remember our first encounters with animals, whether that was at a farm, the local zoo, or even out in the wild! At Glynn Barton, we can offer that special first animal experience for your baby or toddler at the Glynn Barton Farm!
Not only can you come and say hi to our furry residents, but you can even join James and Pippa to learn a little more about each animal and feed them breakfast. So, head on down to the farm to meet Merv and Shane our two Aussie wallabies, our two gorgeous donkeys, the fluffy alpacas, plus sheep, pigs, goats, and chickens!
Take a gentle stroll along our nature trail
Sometimes you just can’t beat a good old dose of Mother Nature, and that’s definitely the case here at Glynn Barton. We’re surrounded by enchanting woodland and rolling countryside that is just waiting to be explored.
So why not embark your baby or toddler on their first ever nature trail adventure? Follow the paths through the greenery and keep your eyes peeled for bug hotels and local wildlife on the way.
Never forget their first swimming lesson
Taking their first splashes in the water or attending their first swimming lesson is always a milestone for children, and that’s all made possible here at Glynn Barton! Our indoor heated swimming pool is open all year round, whatever the weather, and with the average temperature sitting around 30 degrees Celsius, you’ll never have to worry about the water being nippy! We also have baby rings, noodles and floats available. Not to mention the all important play pen to keep the littles one’s safe during changing.
The pool is the perfect size for babies and toddlers to splash about in the shallow end, whilst more confident and older children can swim up and down. The pool house also has an adjoining, enclosed garden so your child can run around afterwards.
Explore The Maze
If you follow us on social media, then you may have already seen the many adventures around the Glynn Barton Maze that so many families have embarked on. Our 18m x 18m maze provides a safe space to let your child run free and work on their problem solving and navigation skills.
Discover our Play Barns
We always aim to go above and beyond for our guests and have not one but two play barns! Our soft play barn is perfect for those little legs under 6. With animals to climb on, towers to build and a slide to discover it’s a perfect space to let your children safely burn off any excess energy! We have a baby activity chair too, so all ages are covered. If those arms are in need of a break, this is the spot for you.
Rain or shine, our play barn is always ready to welcome you and is perfect for older children. The colourful space to play is filled with a wide selection of toys, games, soft play activities, puzzles, and books. Grab a cup of tea and relax next to the fire whilst your little ones explore, create and play.
Explore the local area
We’re so lucky to be located near the stunning Cardinham Woods, which boasts the Gruffalo Trail. It follows the Lady Vale Trail, a circular path alongside a stream. It’s suitable for buggies and balance bikes and takes approximately an hour to complete- although it does depends on the keenness of the legs!! You can download the Gruffalo Spotter App and use it alongside the paper tick box, drawing and spotting kit, together with mini binoculars that you can buy in the Woods Café. Watch the delight on your little one’s face as they discover and engage with much loved characters!
Once you’ve finished exploring the trial you can grab a delicious bite to eat at the Woods Café before retiring back to your cosy holiday cottage at Glynn Barton. They have fab home made cakes which cater to all food types.

To all parents considering bringing their babies or toddlers to Glynn Barton, you need to hear about our Baby and Toddler Holiday Kit! With parents in mind, the kits are full of the essentials, and bits and bobs you might have left at home that will make sure your little ones are content at Glynn Barton.
The kit includes highchairs and travel cots, bed guards, toddler beds and baby monitors, microwave steam sterilisers, black out curtains, plastic crockery and cutlery, playmats, baby chairs and steps for the bathroom!
